Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 17 April 2026

Visiting Angels – South Middlesex is a care at home service. It provides personal care to people living in their own homes. At the time of our assessment, 28 people were receiving support with personal care. The service is registered to provide support for adults. This assessment was carried out due to the length of time since the previous assessment on 22 June 2022.

People’s risks associated with their health and wellbeing were identified during the initial needs assessment. Risk management plans were developed to provide staff with guidance of how to support the person. The provider had a robust recruitment process. Medicines were administered safely and as prescribed. Staff completed training on medicine administration and had their competency assessed. The provider had processes for investigating incidents, accidents, safeguarding and complaints with lessons learned for improvements shared with staff. The provider had a range of audits and quality assurance checks which were completed to monitor the care being provided.

People’s ability to make informed choices about their care was assessed and appropriate support provided. Staff completed a range of training to develop their skills and knowledge when providing care.

People's experience of this service

People and relatives told us they felt safe when care was provided. Relatives confirmed they and their family members were involved in the development and review of care plans. People were supported to select the staff members who visited them to ensure they felt comfortable. People’s preferences in relation to their religion and culture were identified and guidance provided for staff on how these could be supported. Relatives told us they were happy with the care provided. A relative commented when asked if they were happy, “Very much so. The agency was recommended to us by a friend, so we knew what they were like.” People and relatives felt the staff were kind, caring and treated them with respect.
