During a routine inspection

People told us they liked the food, got enough to eat and that they could have a snack or a drink at any time.

One person told us their favourite meal, then we checked and found it was on the menu for lunch that day.

Two people told us their room was cool enough in summer and warm enough at night. They told us they liked their rooms and liked living at Threeways.

One person's relative, who was visiting, told us that they were very happy with the care their relative received and that the staff were good. They said it was the best place to support their relative and their relative was always happy to go back to Threeways after staying with them.

We found people were supported to be able to eat and drink sufficient amounts to meet their needs.

We found that the provider had not always assessed capacity to consent for all of the people who live at the home and had not always taken appropriate steps where people lacked capacity, in line with the Mental Capacity Act.

Our visit was unannounced and early in the morning and we found that the home was hygienic, clean and fresh.

We found the provider had taken steps to provide care in a home that was suitably designed and adequately maintained.

We saw that files containing information about staff and people who use the service were kept securely and confidentially.

During a routine inspection

All the people we spoke to appeared confident and free to express their wishes. For example, one person felt confident to express that they did not want to engage in the activity the staff member suggested, but wanted to join our inspection instead.

One person spoke about activities they had returned from, such as visiting the GP and having a burger and chips out. They then told us about forthcoming activities they were looking forward to, such as Easter and their next holiday.

People also told us the staff were nice and they liked living at their home and liked the other people there.

One person's relative told us that they thought the building was suitable for their relative, there were enough staff, their relative was looked after well and the staff kept them informed.

They also told us they felt their relative was safe there. They had not needed to raise any formal complaints, but if they needed to raise anything, they felt listened to and action would be taken to address the situation.

We found the home to be well maintained, hygienic and clean.

We saw that there were enough staff to meet people's needs in a timely manner and that staff received appropriate professional development and support.
