Our view of the service

We inspected Riverdale Grange Clinic: 3 - 4 December 2025.

We inspected the service due to the length of time since the last inspection.

We inspected 33 quality statements across the five key questions.

Riverdale Grange Clinic is an independent hospital providing treatment and care to people with an eating disorder. It was registered with CQC on the 19 January 2011 to deliver the regulated activities: Assessment or medical treatment for persons detained under the Mental Health Act 1983, and Treatment of disease, disorder or injury. The service has a registered manager.

Riverdale Grange Clinic provides care and treatment for people with eating disorders. It operates from a large refurbished and extended Edwardian building with landscaped gardens to the rear and a small car park at the front of the building. It is situated close to the centre of Sheffield. The hospital offers 18 inpatient beds across two wards. One ward supports up to 9 adults, while the other is for up to 9 young people. Most patients are female, although there is suitable accommodation for 1 male patient if required.
