We found this practice was providing well-led care in accordance with the relevant regulations and had taken into consideration appropriate guidance.

At the inspection on 3 June 2025, we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulation:

The practice had taken significant steps to improve its management of water safety risks. It had updated checklists for recording water monitoring results, provided staff training, and developed systems to ensure better oversight. These changes had helped ensure water temperature monitoring was carried out effectively and records were properly maintained, supporting a safer environment and reducing the risk of issues such as Legionella.

All hazardous materials had been reviewed to ensure accurate and up-to-date information was available to staff. Storage arrangements had been improved to ensure substances were stored securely. To support ongoing staff awareness and safe handling, scenario-based refresher training had been developed and implemented.

The practice had addressed risks associated with evacuating patients from the upstairs surgery during treatment under conscious sedation. Fire evacuation drills had been carried out, and team meetings were held on days when sedation was planned to ensure all staff understood their roles in an emergency. The risks had also been reviewed, and sedation was only carried out upstairs when necessary.

Systems had been strengthened to ensure infection prevention and control audits were completed every six months in line with current guidance. Flags had been introduced to alert the team when audits were overdue, enabling timely action to maintain compliance and uphold infection control standards.

Recruitment protocols had been reviewed and improved to ensure consistent adherence, with training records properly maintained. All existing records had been reviewed, and procedures strengthened to ensure that necessary documentation was obtained for new starters, or a suitable risk assessment was completed when required. Ongoing CPD had been actively monitored, and the practice manager had felt confident the system would support continued compliance.

In addition, the group had taken the opportunity to learn from the previous inspection and subsequent improvements. We were told these lessons had been shared across all practices in the group, enhancing overall support for practice managers and promoting a better understanding of their responsibilities across the organisation.
