Caring
Caring – this means we looked for evidence that the provider involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has changed to requires improvement. This meant people did not always feel well-supported, cared for or treated with dignity and respect.
The service was in breach of the legal regulation(s) in relation to person centred care.
This service scored 60 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.
Kindness, compassion and dignity
We did not look at Kindness, compassion and dignity during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Caring.
Treating people as individuals
We did not look at Treating people as individuals during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Caring.
Independence, choice and control
The provider did not consistently promote people’s independence. People did not always know their rights and not always had choice and control over their own care and wellbeing. People did not always have a choice on who they lived with. When people were moved into a supported living home on an emergency basis, discussions had not taken place with the people who already lived in the home. Staff told us “I don’t feel like it’s a true supported living model. They [people] are not given a choice where they live or who they live with.” Other staff also told us, “The decisions around placements are made high up, no one else is involved.”
