When Healthwatch launches in October 2012, it will play a role at both national and local level and will make sure that the views of the public are taken into account.

A number of essential activities will take place over the next 12 months to ensure that Healthwatch is fully functional before its launch.

These activities include:

  • appointing staff.
  • developing information and briefings for local Healthwatch organisations.
  • developing a work plan.
  • agreeing the budget with the Department of Health.
  • agreeing how the relationship between Healthwatch England and CQC will work.
  • appointing the Healthwatch England committee.
  • developing the Healthwatch England website.
