The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has found the quality of care provided by Home Instead Senior Care - Salford and Worsley to be Outstanding following an inspection in September.

Home Instead is a domiciliary care agency based in Salford and provides personal care support to people in their own homes. At the time of this inspection there were 32 people using the service.

CQC asks five questions when it inspects. Are services safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led? Home Instead is rated as outstanding for being caring, and well-led, and good for safe, effective and responsive.

A full report of the inspection has been published on our website.

Debbie Westhead, Deputy Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care in the North, said:

“We found the quality of care provided at Home Instead Senior Care in Salford and Worsley to be outstanding."

“We found an exceptional culture within the service. Employees were referred to as caregivers rather than staff and we found them to be passionate about ensuring people received a high level of care and support."

“We saw numerous examples where both caregivers and managements had gone above and beyond to meet people’s care needs, requests and personal preferences."

“The feedback we received from people using the service, as well as their relatives was overwhelmingly positive. We also saw the service working with people to make sure they avoided social isolation, helping them to enjoy their favourite pastimes."

“All the staff should be very proud of the care they are providing and I hope other providers look to their example of what outstanding care should look like.”

Some of the findings from the inspection included:

The registered manager had been extremely proactive in raising awareness and sourcing training relating to specific conditions affecting people who used the service such as bowel cancel and Parkinson's disease.

  • Both the directors and registered manager had been involved in fundraising events to raise funds for people who had previously used the service and had now passed away. This was being done in memory of the person which demonstrated the caring nature of the service.
  • The service provided a minimum call time of one hour, with some lasting up to four hours and this allowed for genuine, friendly and caring relationships to develop.
  • The registered manager had been extremely proactive in raising awareness and sourcing training relating to specific conditions affecting people who used the service such as bowel cancel and Parkinson's disease.
