Some GP services work especially hard to listen to and support older people.
Here are some examples of what outstanding services are doing to improve lives of older people and recognise their concerns.Alston Medical Practice
Alston Medical Practice was rated outstanding for care for older people. They received this rating because the practice offered proactive, personalised care to meet the needs of the older people in their community, including providing emergency home delivery of medication and home visits. They also had a system in place to identify and support carers.Home Instead Senior Care
Home Instead Senior Care provides domiciliary care and support. This includes personal care such as assistance with bathing, dressing, eating and medicines. Our inspectors found that positive, caring relationships had been developed with people who received care and their caregivers. People were extremely well supported by caregivers to engage in activities to stimulate and promote their overall wellbeing, including organising several clubs and activities: a lunch club, an afternoon tea club, three memory cafes and sponsoring the Alzheimer’s Singing for the Brain service. The Old Vicarage
The Old Vicarage provides accommodation and personal care for predominantly older people. Every resident our inspectors spoke with told us they were safe, comfortable and well cared for at The Old Vicarage. People's care plans were personalised, up to date and accurately reflected their individual care and support needs, including highly detailed information about their life history, hobbies and interests.
