CQC register White Pharmacy Ltd to carry out the following legally regulated activities.

Transport services, triage and medical advice provided remotely

Condition of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity

The registered person must not prescribe opioid containing medicines without documented discussion of the case, following consent from the patient, and surrounding clinical context by the prescribing clinician with the patient’s regular GP before a prescribing decision is made. All prescribing of opioid containing medicines must be communicated in writing (by post or email) to the patient’s regular GP after issue. Patients who refuse to consent to communication with their GP must not be prescribed opioid containing medicines.

The registered person must carry out a comprehensive review of all medical questionnaires used to ensure they are evidence based. A GMC registered General Practitioner must sign off each of the final questionnaires to confirm they are satisfied that the revised versions meet the standard required for safe prescribing. The reviewed and revised questionnaires must be implemented by 26 January 2017.

The registered person must carry out a risk assessment of the opioid medicines prescribed to ensure safe and appropriate prescribing. Action must be taken to mitigate any risks identified. This risk assessment must be completed and approved by the Medical Director by 26 January 2017.

The registered provider must ensure that the regulated activity Transport services, triage and medical advice provided remotely is managed by an individual who is registered as a manager in respect of that activity at or from all locations.

Terms of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity

The registered person must take into account the ‘Good practice in prescribing and managing medicines and devices’ Guidance produced by the General Medical Council when deciding how to protect patients from the risk of unsafe prescribing of medicines (including opioid based medicines) at White Pharmacy Ltd.

The registered person must ensure that its clinical members of staff do not prescribe medicines (including opioid based medicines) to service users unless the clinician has sufficient, reliable information to enable them to prescribe safely.

Where patients are registered with a general practitioner, in order to ensure safe care and treatment is provided to the patient overall, the registered person must decide whether they are able to treat patients who refuse to give consent to White Pharmacy Ltd for their general practitioner to be contacted and informed of the medicines (including opioid based medicines) that have been prescribed.

The registered provider must ensure that the regulated activity Treatment of disease, disorder or injury is managed by an individual who is registered as a manager in respect of that activity at or from all locations.
