During a routine inspection

Most people received services in their own home. For this reason it was not possible to communicate directly with people who used the service on this occasion. We spoke with managers of local day services for people with learning disabilities. They told us that Barnet Learning Disabilities Service staff regularly reviewed people's care needs and provided specialist advice and guidance to day centre staff when they needed it.

Staff received appropriate training to enable them to provide the support to people that they needed. They had the knowledge and skills needed to protect people from possible abuse. Staff worked closely with people who use the service to identify the outcomes they wished to achieve. People were offered choices in relation to the support available to them. The provider regularly monitored the service to make sure that an appropriate standard of care and support was provided to people who use the service.
