All Inspections

5 April 2012

During a routine inspection

This was a joint inspection conducted by a Care Quality Commission Compliance Inspector and a Commissioner appionted under the Mental Health Act.

The patients in this unit have difficulty in expressing themselves verbally. It was still possible for them to indicate their feelings about different things. One relative told us that regular home visits were encouraged by the staff.

Another relative told us 'A good interaction with staff who deal with (name) very well', another said '(name) life has improved tremendously over the years '(at Grandview)'.

24 January 2012

During a themed inspection looking at Learning Disability Services

Many of the patients in the unit have difficulty in expressing themselves verbally. It was still possible for them to indicate their feelings about different things.

One relative told us that regular home visits were encouraged by the staff.

We were also told by a relative that their family member had become very 'low'. During that period they had agreed not to contact their relative directly but were kept informed by staff of their family member's progress and contact has since been re-established.

Another relative told us 'a good interaction with staff who deal with xxx very well'.
