During a routine inspection

We visited Lakeside and Cavendish wards at Leigh Infirmary, these wards are part of Five Boroughs Partnership NHS Foundation

Trust.

Cavendish and Lakeside are acute admission wards that can each accommodate 25 people. There are 25 beds for female patients on Cavendish ward and 25 beds for male patients on Lakeside ward. Both wards provide a service to both detained and informal patients under the Mental Health Act 1983.

People spoke positively about their experience at the unit, stating 'everything is ok' and "the staff treat me well". During out visit we observed staff interacting with people on the wards.

People had a full and clear understanding of their individual programmes of care and treatment. They commented that they felt they were given sufficient details and answers to any questions they may have, which they felt allowed them to make informed decisions.

They understood the care and treatment choices available to them and were given appropriate information and support regarding their care or treatment.
