During a themed inspection looking at Offender Healthcare

We carried out this inspection in partnership with Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Prisons. We spoke with four people who had used the service and asked if they felt that staff had treated them with dignity and respect. One person said, 'Yes I have found the staff to be very approachable.' Another person said, 'I have found the mental health team to be very supportive, they don't judge me and they are there to help.'

A range of mental health services were provided to people in the prison. For example there were groups available for people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, stress control and anxiety management. Waiting times were generally short.

During our inspection we observed that there was a positive relationship between different providers operating within the healthcare centre.

Staff received appropriate support through induction, training, supervision and appraisal.

The staff we spoke with told us that they felt the service was well led and responsive to any suggestions that were made. Staff attended regular meetings where they would discuss their current caseload and any concerns or suggestions they may have. We were told by staff that they felt respected by their manager and that any feedback they provided was taken seriously.
