During a routine inspection

We found that people's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plans that ensured people's safety and welfare.

We spoke with six people who told us they felt very well cared for by staff on the ward. One person said; 'I've been to a number of hospitals now, and this is the one I prefer. The care and treatment is exemplary." On review of care plans we found that care was centred on each person and care plans were individualised to meet people's needs. One member of staff said; 'I feel the people get a good standard of care. I am proud of what I do.' One person we spoke with told us; 'I have full confidence in the care and treatment I've been given. I can relax here knowing everything's taken care of.'

All the staff we spoke with told us they had completed a range of training that ensured they had the skills and knowledge to carry out their duties safely. They said they felt well supported by the ward manager and senior staff in the hospital. One person who was being cared for on the ward told us; 'My treatment options have been explained to me, the explanations have been very good. I know I'm in good and safe hands and will leave when the time is right'.

We looked at the staff training records and these showed us staff had received appropriate training to meet the needs of people in their care.
