During an inspection looking at part of the service

We did not speak with people as part of this review. At our last review we found that, people who used the service understood their care and treatment choices available to them and had their privacy, dignity and independence respected. They were satisfied with the support they received from the staff team, which was described by one person as, 'Absolutely brilliant.'

During a routine inspection

Patients described both Bestwood and Daybrook Wards as calm and relaxed, comments included, 'I feel that I can relax, there's no stress here and the staff are there to talk to me if I need them.'

Patients said they were satisfied with the support they received from the staff team, which was described by one patient as, 'Absolutely brilliant.'

Another patient told us, 'The staff are nice, kind and treat me with a gentle touch, we are the staff's number one priority and they give us time.'

Patients told us that they had been involved in discussions about their care and treatment and they understood the choices available to them but they had not seen their care plans.

We asked patients if they felt safe and supported in the hospital and they told us they were. One patient said they felt safe even when there were incidents where other patients were agitated or distressed.
