During an inspection looking at part of the service

We completed this inspection to follow up compliance set at our last visit. Therefore the areas we looked at were whether improvements had been made to the statement of purpose, which is the document that outlines what is offered to people who use the service and if staff had received appropriate training and supervision.

We reviewed the statement of purpose and found this had been updated although the provider may wish to note that they needed to be clearer around the service they offered to people living in care homes.

We also found that all the staff had now received all the required training for their role. They were offered regular supervision sessions, which included one-to-one discussions and assessments of their competency as well as this they completed an annual appraisal of their performance.

We found that the Serenity Care base will close imminently and the service will operate from 8 The Square, Sedgefield, Stockton on Tees. The registered provider had just submitted the applications needed to make these changes.

During a routine inspection

People told us they were happy with the care and support they received. Comments included, "It's a great service" and "They provide a high standard of service".

People told us care and support was given flexibly and in line with people's wishes. Comments from relatives included, "I have read the care plan; it gives a good account" and "I am involved in care decisions and meetings".

We found that whilst staff provide a good standard of care they require more training and supervision.

Information for people using or looking to use the service was not accurate and required updating.
