During a routine inspection

On the day of the inspection we spoke with one member of the reception staff, the practice nurse, the practice manager and the GP. We were also joined by a representative of the Birmingham Local Medical Committee for part of the visit. We also spoke with six patients about their experience of care at the practice.

All of the patients we spoke with were very satisfied with the level of care and treatment they had received. All the patients said that they would recommend the surgery to their friends and family. All the patients felt that they were involved in their care as the GP took time to explain things to them. One patient we spoke with said 'He (the GP) explains everything. I think I get enough time with him.' Another patient we spoke with said: 'I've always had all the time I want (with the GP). I can always get a direct answer (from the GP).

Staff had received training in safeguarding to protect vulnerable adults and children. Appropriate guidance was available for staff to follow if abuse was suspected.

Staff members we spoke with told us that they were supported in the roles and we saw that regular appraisals were carried out. This meant that they had been adequately assessed as being competent.

There were processes in place for monitoring the quality of service provision. There was a system for regularly obtaining opinions from patients about the standard of the service they received.
