During a routine inspection
The patients we spoke with were consistently pleased with the services they received. They told us they were given good information about their treatment and were treated politely and professionally by all staff. Patients told us they received oral health advice.
Care and treatment was delivered with regard to patient's safety and welfare. We found that the medical history of patients was regularly checked to ensure dental treatment could be administered safely. Patients in severe dental pain could obtain emergency appointments within 24 hours. One patient described the emergency service they received as "fantastic".
The risk of infection was reduced because appropriate guidance was followed. We saw the equipment used in the decontamination of dental instruments was maintained in good working order and safety checks were performed and recorded every day.
Staff were appropriately vetted before they started work. For example, criminal records checks had been undertaken for all staff.
Patient satisfaction surveys took place. The results showed us patients were very positive about their care and that no negative comments had been received.
