During a routine inspection

During this visit we spoke with five people who used the service, one relative, five staff members and looked at five people's care records. We also reviewed feedback the service had received from people who used the service.

People we spoke with and their relatives told us that staff provided care in line with their wishes. One relative said, 'They always treat my wife with respect and will do anything she asks them to do. I can't praise them enough.'

We found that when people received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes.

People we spoke with told us they were very happy with the care the service provided. One relative said, 'They have been a life saver for me. I am very happy with everything they do.' Another told us, 'They are all very nice. They get on so well together, I can hear them getting on great and having a laugh when they are helping him. They are so good with him.'

People were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had been followed.

People were cared for, or supported by, suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff.

The service had an effective complaints system in place.

During a routine inspection

The people who used the service and the relatives we spoke with were all very complimentary about the provider, the staff and the quality of the service. People said that the standard of care was 'Outstanding.' that the provider was 'Always there when I need to discuss things.' and 'All the staff are so kind, they go way beyond what they need to do. It's the little touches, like bringing cakes, which mean a lot.'

People told us that they were fully involved in the assessment of their care needs. They said that they were treated respectfully and were very happy with the care and support they received. Care needs were regularly assessed and the provider kept relatives informed of any concerns they had about the wellbeing of the people who used the service.

The provider had taken steps to protect people who used the service from the risks of abuse. There were clear arrangements in place to contact local safeguarding services and staff had received safeguarding training.

Staff were complimentary about the support they received from the provider and were encouraged to attend training and gain additional relevant qualifications.

The provider sought to constantly improve the quality of the service by learning from incidents and considering comments made by staff, people who used the service or their relatives.
