During a routine inspection

The service provided a care and support service for people with dementia who wished to remain living in the community. People who received a service were unable to comment upon their care but relatives we spoke with told us they were very satisfied with the service. We were told the agency was reliable and understood the needs of people with dementia. We were told that staff were professional and caring. People said they could contact the agency and discuss any concerns or issues they had.

Heath and social care professionals who had an involvement with the service told us the agency communicated well with them and that the provider understood the needs of people with dementia.

The agency had care and support plans in place and staff completed recording to say that tasks had been completed. We found that the care plans would benefit from being more detailed and person centred. There was also a need for some risk assessments to reviewed and updated.

The provider and registered manager respected and promoted the dignity of the people they provided a service to. People's choice to remain living in their own homes, or in the community, was respected and promoted.

During a routine inspection

People who used the agency we spoke with told us they were provided with information about the service. We were told people were treated with respect by the staff and manager and involved in the planning of their care.

People were provided with care plans and assessments that were reviewed annually with the funding authority.

We were told that staff were reliable and competent in the tasks they carried out. The manager had regular contact with the people receiving a service as they also carried out care visits in addition to managing the agency.
