During an inspection looking at part of the service

We spoke with four people who used the service. They told us they received the care and support they needed. They said they liked the staff. People told us about the many different activities they did each day. One person said " I can choose what I do". Another said (about the provider) "she is the best carer I have ever had".

We looked at risk assessments and risk management plans. Risk assessments were in place for each individual and for staff. We looked at staff files and saw that two written references had been obtained for each staff member. Pre-employment checks are important and ensure that staff employed are suitable for the job. We saw that the provider was listening to and taking action about complaints and comments made by people who used the service.

During a routine inspection

At the time of our visit there were three people using the service. The provider had recently changed from a shared lives service to a domiciliary care service. People lived in supported living accommodation. People had their needs assessed and were allocated care and support depending on their needs. People were able to maintain as much independence as possible and lived active and busy lives. We spoke with one person who used the service. They told us they received the care and support they required and in a way they preferred. They said about the provider "she is like a mother to me".
