During a routine inspection

A Family's Best Friend was registered with CQC in December 2012, and this was their first inspection. We visited the office and looked at some care plans called Individual Specific Protocols (ISPs) for children receiving personal care. We talked with parents by telephone. We found the ISPs to be detailed and helpful documents giving a clear picture of the children and what was being worked on. We saw that parents consented to care by use of an email system. Parents we spoke with were all very positive about the service. One simply said, 'It's brilliant. I trust them 100%'.

We saw that safe recruitment processes were in place, meaning proper references were taken up and checks on criminal records were made. We saw that the provider had an effective complaints procedure in place, although it had yet to be used. Parents told us the manager was open and approachable, and dealt with any issues as they arose.
