All Inspections

28 November 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke with seven people who used the service, the manager and three members of staff as part of this inspection. People who used the service told us, that they were happy with the care they received and one person said. "This is my home now and I can have a good laugh sometimes with the staff." People told us the food was full of variety and always enough and one person said. 'The cook is never too busy to talk with us and cooks lovely meals.'

We found that the service had introduced a computer planning and recording system which worked with the written care plans. Information was recorded on each shift regarding the care provided. The service had clearly written risk assessments in place and which meant the service was well planned, effective and responsive to providing care needs.

The environment was clean and maintained safely as was the equipment we inspected. The equipment was regularly maintained and there were service level agreements in place for repair. The service had a robust complaints system and there were no complaints at the time of our visit. The service carefully sought the person's consent about how they wished their care to be delivered and the care plans were well documented and up to date.

The service was well led because we saw staff working together and had sufficient knowledge so they were able to work upon the different units within the service. There was a training programme for staff along with supervision and an appraisal system.
