During a routine inspection

We looked at the care records for people who used the service and found they were individual, personalised and contained information about people's choices and preferences. The records demonstrated the individual's involvement with the way that their service was delivered and that they had signed to give their consent to care.

We spoke with people who used the service. All the people we spoke with said they were happy with the care they received. One person told us: "They are good, they are very good'. Another person said: 'They are smashing; they do the shopping for us'.

We found staff had received regular training on medication. We saw from records that medication record charts were maintained and a range of risk assessments had been completed around medication for people who used the service.

We spoke to staff and examined staff rotas. We found that there were sufficient staff on duty to perform their role and provide support for people who used the service.

There was a complaints procedure in place and people who used the service and their relatives had received information on how to make a complaint.

During a routine inspection

We visited Sevacare on 31 January 2013. We looked at the care records for people who used the service and found they were individual, personalised and contained information about people's choices and preferences. The records demonstrated the individual's involvement with the way that their service was delivered.

We spoke with people who used the service. All the people we spoke with, who used the service, were happy with the care they received. One person told us: "They are so obliging and helpful'. Another person said "I feel really safe" and a third said: "Oh yeah, they are like friends'.

We found staff had received training on safeguarding vulnerable adults and had access to appropriate policies and procedures. Staff had an understanding of the safeguarding processes and knew how to raise an alert.

Staff were provided with appropriate training opportunities and received regular supervision both on and off site.

We saw that there were effective systems in place to allow the monitoring and improvement of the service delivery. There was a complaints procedure in place and any concerns were followed up appropriately.
