All Inspections

5 July 2013

During a routine inspection

At the time of our inspection the service was providing care and support to 48 people in their own homes.

People who used the service told us that staff were polite and respectful towards them and that they had been involved in planning and reviewing their care and support. The registered manager told us, 'We encourage family, friends and representatives to get involved in the process too, so that we end up with the best result for person concerned'.

The two people and two carers that we spoke with told us that they were generally happy with the care that was provided for them. One person told us, 'The care staff can easily do everything I need and we always have a nice chat at the same time. They don't just treat me with respect they are very kind'.

We noted that guidance regarding safeguarding people from abuse was available to staff and that they had received recent relevant training. One person we spoke with told us, 'It's very important to be able to trust the people who care for you and I do'.

We saw that staff were provided with appropriate training and that their performance was regularly monitored to ensure that standards were maintained. In addition, we noted that staff were given opportunities for further training and professional development.

We noted that the service had a comprehensive set of systems in place to monitor and assess the standards of care being provided to people and that it acted appropriately on the information received.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to two people who used the service and one relative.

One person said that staff are 'Good at the job they do.' Another told us that they were 'Very satisfied' with the care that they received. They told us that they thought the care they received was 'Wonderful' and that the care workers 'Were very nice.'

One person told us that the care workers were mostly always on time and if they knew they were running late then they would contact them to let them know. All the people told us that the care workers stayed for the right amount of time and if anything would stay longer than the allotted time.

One person told us their relative's life had 'Changed for the better.' They told us that their appetite improved and the house was a lot cleaner. They felt their relative was 'Happier' as a result of the care that they received. They told us that they felt safe and secure when the staff were with them.

One person told us that they would 'Trust the staff with my life.' One relative told us that they felt that they were in a 'Safe environment.' They told us that they are often contacted by the office to ask their views on the service they receive. People told us that if they needed to complain about anything then they would know who to speak to.
