All Inspections

10 February 2014

During a routine inspection

We visited four people who received a service at Hogshill and three of their relatives. We spoke with one person on the telephone who received a service at Anvil Court. We met with eight staff members, the care team manager and the registered manager. We read four care plans and looked at other records for specific information. We observed interactions between staff and people who received a service.

People who used the service told us the staff were 'lovely' and 'fabulous'. One person told us 'I can have some fun with them' and another person said 'it all works very well. We are very pleased with the girls.'

Staff were aware of how to include people in their own care and to encourage independence where possible. People who received the service told us they could tell staff how they wanted to be helped. They said staff treated them with dignity and respect.

The care plans we read contained assessments of needs, plans of how to support people and assessments of risks. These had been kept under review.

People were safeguarded from abuse by staff who had received training, could recognise the signs and knew their responsibilities and how to report any concerns.

Staff were recruited by a thorough recruitment procedure where the required information was obtained and the necessary checks were carried out.

There were systems in place to monitor the quality of the service and actions were taken to make any identified improvements.
