All Inspections

During a routine inspection

At the time of our visit four people were living at the home. We spoke with two people during the course of our inspection. They seemed content and settled. One person we spoke with said, 'the staff are cool, all the guys are great.' One of the care workers said, "I care about the people who live here, we build strong trusting relationships."

People were encouraged to engage with meaningful activities. We saw examples of people's art work, model building and heard music one person had composed.

Staff supported the people who used the service to live an independent, active and healthy lifestyle. One person said, 'when I have an appointment I like to walk to it, the manager will sometimes meet me there, or walk with me from here if I don't feel so good that day.'

The care workers we spoke with said they felt supported by the manager. They told us the manager had an open door policy which meant they could talk about any issues at any time.

During a routine inspection

Six people were living at the home. We spoke with four people during the course of the inspection. One person preferred not to talk to us and another person was unavailable.

People said they were involved in planning their care. People felt able to discuss any concerns with staff at the home. One person said: "Of course I can ask anything."

One person said the thing they liked most about the home was: "Having the freedom to go in and out"'. People gave us lots of examples of things they liked to do locally, including going to the cinema, going shopping and attending college.

All the people we spoke with said they felt safe at the home. People confirmed that disputes were unusual and any problems were quickly resolved with the support of staff where necessary.

Three people told us they thought the home was the right place for them to be living at the moment. One person was about to move to more independent living arrangements and felt ready for this.

All the people we spoke with were happy with staffing levels at the home both during the day and at night. One person said: "I know to come to the office if I need to find someone." Another person said: " [The staff] are nice".
