During a routine inspection

This service reopened towards the end of November 2013 after being closed for a few months for refurbishment. At the time of our inspection, there was one resident living the home. We spoke with them and they were very positive about the support which they were receiving. We reviewed the care plan documentation and found that it was clear and up to date. The care plan had been developed with the involvement of the person using the service and we saw that risk assessments and risk management plans were up to date. We spoke with the care coordinator for the person who used the service. They were positive about the service.

We spoke with two members of staff including the manager. We saw that staff were offered regular training and support by the provider. We checked policies and audits in the home and saw that the quality of care delivered was checked and improvements were made as necessary. We saw that people using the service had access to the provider's complaints policy and all incidents and accidents were logged to ensure learning.

During a routine inspection

We met and spoke with two of the three people who lived at the home, as one person was out throughout the inspection. They were very positive about the support provided to them. One person said 'its good here,' and another person told us 'everything's fine.'

People appeared to be supported appropriately within the home. They told us that they were provided with the care that they needed, were given choices, and had formed good and supportive relationships with staff members. People were supported to engage in activities of their preferences.

People lived in an environment that was well maintained and furnished and decorated in accordance with their preferences.

Staff received appropriate supervision and there was a training plan in place for the staff team. There was monitoring in place to ensure the quality of records, care and support provided for people living at the home.
