During a routine inspection

As part of our inspection we talked to two members of staff providing care to people in their own homes. We also talked to people receiving care, and asked their opinion of the service provided.

A member of staff we spoke with told us they were new to the company, and told us about the induction they had received before starting work. We asked how well equipped they felt following induction training, to deliver care to people. They told us "The induction was pretty good. I was working with another carer at first, which was really useful. I have regular calls each week and I know who I'm going to see each day and you start to build a relationship with them, which is really nice." Another member of staff told us "I love the job because I can see how much a person I provide care for has progressed over the months. I've made a difference to that person's life." We asked how supported staff felt, by managers and care co-ordinators. Both staff we spoke with said that managers were very supportive.

One person receiving care described the service as "good." They said they knew the carer who provided support on daytime visits. However, the night time visit could be done by different carers. This person said they had asked for a shift rota, showing the names of carers that would be covering the evening calls, so they would know who to expect. As yet the office had not provided this which they felt was disappointing.

During an inspection in response to concerns

People using the service told us they had felt comfortable with staff who had always been respectful, polite and kind towards them. People also told us they had been involved in all aspects of their care and support. Their comments included: 'They have always been respectful towards me and very polite'. 'They have talked to me and have always asked how I am feeling'. 'They are brilliant and delightful. I always get regular carers I feel privileged to have them'. 'They never rush me and they are very patient'.

People told us they had no concerns about the punctuality of staff who attended their home. Comments included: 'They always turn up on time'. 'There have been some occasions when staff have been late however I have always been made aware, it is getting better'. They have sometimes been a little late but not too much'. 'They have mostly been on time'.
