During a routine inspection

Blackpool Adult Provider Services consisted of four individual services including Shared Lives, Home Care Service, Supported Living and Extra Supported Living. Each service had its own management and staffing arrangements. The remit of the service was to ensure that vulnerable adults received safe, appropriate personal care and social support in a range of settings. These included supported tenancies and care at home. The service also provided a shared lives service linking vulnerable adults who needed personal care and support with specially recruited carers from the community.

Our inspection was undertaken at the services headquarters based in Blackpool. During the inspection we looked at staff training records, staff supervision arrangements, the services complaints procedure and quality monitoring arrangements. We did this because we wanted to identify that appropriate arrangements were in place to support staff members. We also wanted to ensure people using the service felt listened to.

We found care plan records were well maintained and people were happy with the service they were receiving. Staff members had been trained and felt supported by their managers. We also visited and spoke to a number of people supported by the service, spoke to family members and interviewed a number of staff. We received positive feedback about all the services being provided. One person said, 'I cannot praise the service I receive high enough. The staff are very professional'.
