People we spoke with told us that when they commenced services from Company and Help at Home, they had been supplied with all the information they needed about the company and felt confident their needs would be met.

They said they had been involved in the care planning process and the care staff provided their support in accordance with the instructions within the plan.

People told us they were very satisfied with the quality of the care they received from all the staff employed at the agency. One person said, 'The service we get is excellent. It's taken a lot of pressure off us.'

People told us that, in their opinion, the staff employed at the agency were of good character and were confident and competent in performing their duties. One person told us, 'All the staff are very good. They are very respectful.' Another person told us, 'We are very happy with all the staff supplied by the agency.'

People told us that they felt confident in discussing any areas of concern with the manager and felt that any concerns they raised would be addressed to their satisfaction. Comments included, 'I feel the manager would always listen to us, I have no concerns at all and I am very happy with the agency.'

We found that the registered manager had initiated effective auditing procedures to ensure the quality of service provision was continually monitored.

Company and Care at Home is a small service which provides personal care in people's own homes. Some people told us that they have chosen to use this service because they feel it provides a more responsive service than some other larger organisations whilst accepting it may be more difficult to provide cover in periods of sickness or bad weather. The relatives of people who use the service spoke highly about it, about the responsiveness of the manager and the effectiveness of communication.

We reviewed the records of four staff, spoke to the relatives of two service users and spoke to three members of staff. We were not able to see care being delivered in people's homes.

One relative said his relative's 'needs were fully met' and another relative said 'she can't speak highly enough of them'. Staff told us they could approach their manager and contact her for support if they needed to and that any concerns they raised were mostly addressed. The staff records showed staff were trained and in some cases exceeded the required level of competency to deliver effective care. Relatives told us they were confident that any concerns raised would be dealt with appropriately.
