During a routine inspection

We spoke with two women who were using the service on the day of our inspection, and the clinical and non-clinical staff. Women told us that they had been able to make informed decisions about their care and they had discussed their thoughts, feelings and opinions during the consultations. They also told us they had time to consider options and could withdraw their consent if they wanted to. They were pleased that there was a focus on privacy and confidentiality and they felt that all the right questions were asked during their discussions with staff. We heard comments such as: “They gave good information.”

We found that staff completed training appropriate to their roles. Staff told us that access to training was good and they appreciated the quality of support provided by the manager and their colleagues. Women using the service commented on the caring manner of the staff and their professionalism

Arrangements were in place so that women, including children and young women, were protected against the risk of abuse. This included arrangements to support women who may be at risk of abuse in society.

Systems were in place to identify and monitor the quality of the service provided at the clinic and to manage risks to people's safety, health and welfare. Women using the clinic were asked their views and their feedback was used to improve the service.
