All Inspections

27 November 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke with everyone who was using the service at the time of our inspection. Everyone confirmed to us that they were well and that staff were kind to them. One person told us, "I go out to social clubs and the pub. Staff help me to get there. I like living here." We saw that people were supported to make their own choices and to live independent lives.

We found that the service was supporting people to achieve their own goals and to take part in activities that they enjoyed. We saw that one person had been supported to gain work experience in the community. This person was aiming to secure employment and to move to their own flat in the future. The service had put a detailed support plan in place to support this person to achieve their goals. Staff demonstrated a good knowledge of people's needs and the risks they faced. Staff were trained to support people's specific medical conditions.

We spoke with five people using the service. One person told us, "I love it here. The staff help me. I can trust them. I like helping with the hoovering. I have a job that I go to. I have just been to the shop to buy snacks. I got cucumber and oranges because they are healthy." All five people who used the service confirmed to us that they felt safe and that staff treated them well. We saw that people were supported to make their own choices and to live independent lives.
