During a routine inspection

After our visit to the office we spoke with three people who use the service, three relatives of people who use the service and three members of staff on the telephone. At the office we spoke with the manager, one member of staff and looked at records.

People told us that they were very happy with the care and support they received from Blue Ribbon. One person said "excellent, a very good service". Another person told us "carers are very good, they come when they should" and "carers give me the help I need". Other comments we received included "care staff are all very nice", "very good", "pleasant", "responsive", "thoughtful" and "empathetic".

Relatives said they were satisfied with the care and support provided, their comments included "this is the best agency for keeping in contact with me", "good communication from the agency" and "the carer may have changed but the new one was suitable". One relative told us that they had recently raised an issue that had been addressed to their satisfaction.

Carers said they had the training and support they needed to carry out their role and said "always someone at the office" and "the manager is very supportive". Carers said the agency was 'organised' and said they provided good communication to people who use the service.

We saw that assessments were completed and developed into care plans, daily records detailed the care and support provided and systems were in place to check the quality of services provided.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people who use the service, the relative of one person who uses the service, three members of staff, one supervisor and the registered manager during this inspection.

Comments about the service included "I like my carer very much", "I am happy with the service", "I wouldn't have carried on if I wasn't happy", "I have no complaints", "care staff are excellent, responsive, flexible and honest", "we have been allocated a main carer, which provides good continuity of care" and "we get asked what we think of the service at reviews, spot checks and phone calls".

Staff said they had the training and support to carry out their job and that care plans gave them the information they needed to meet people's needs.

We saw assessments were completed and developed into care plans which were reviewed and updated when required.
