All Inspections

During a routine inspection

Due to the nature of this service we were unable to speak directly with people who used it. This was because people did not visit the office and services were provided in transit in the ambulances. On this occasion we were unable to observe any care or support provided to people. However, we read correspondence received from people who had used the service and spoke with four staff about their roles when supporting people.

People were transported in a way that maintained their dignity and protected their rights. Transfers were well organised and people's care needs were met during the journey. We found that the premises and vehicles were suitable and safe. Measures were in place

to provide a clean and hygienic transportation service.

We found the staff working at the service received appropriate support and training for their job roles. The provider ensured staff performances were regularly assessed and appraised. The provider implemented a range of processes to monitor quality at their service and made effective changes to improve quality where a need had been identified.

During a routine inspection

This was the practice's first inspection since ambulance services were required to register with the Care Quality Commission.

Due to the nature of this service we were unable to speak with people who used it. This was because people did not visit the office and services were provided in transit in the ambulances. On this occasion we were unable to observe any care or support provided to people. However, we read correspondence received in the last 12 months from people who had used the service and spoke with two hospital transport managers that made regular bookings with the service.

People were transported in a way that maintained their dignity and protected their rights. Transfers were well organised and people's care needs were met during the journey.

We found that the premises and vehicles were suitable and safe. Measures were in place to provide a clean and hygienic service.

We found that the staff recruitment procedures were effective as they ensured that staff were of good character and had the skills and experience for the work. Staff were also trained to ensure that people were safe on their journey. Staff knew whom to report concerns about safety to and action was taken to protected individuals from the risk of harm or abuse.

The records we saw were up to date and well ordered. People's confidentiality was respected and maintained because records were securely stored.
