During a routine inspection

We visited the administrative office of the organisation where we reviewed documentation and spoke with the Registered Manager, Training Manager and an Operations Coordinator. Later we spoke with staff and people who used the service and their relatives over the telephone.

People we spoke with told us they were satisfied with the service and they felt that their dignity was respected. One person we spoke with said 'I like the carers' another said 'They look after me very well'. Staff we spoke with said people were treated with respect and their privacy and dignity was respected at all times.

Care workers told us the staffing levels were appropriate and staff were supported through their training. The staff we spoke with were complimentary regarding the training they had been provided with. One member of staff told us 'I like working here' another said 'I love working with people'.

The staff members we spoke with explained what actions they would take if people wanted to make a complaint about the service. They said the Registered Manager would take complaints seriously and people would never be discriminated against for raising a complaint.

During a routine inspection

People who used the service and their representatives told us they were satisfied with the care and support they received. They made the following comments:

'I've been very satisfied so far. They gave me a brochure and when I got my care plan they put the number of the agency on the front and said to contact them if I had any queries.'

'I've never been looked after as well.'

'They do everything ok and everyone is very nice.'

'The carers know exactly what to do and do it well.'

'I've had a few different carers and they've all been trained to a very good standard.'

'They all do absolutely fine when they come.'

'They work hard to give quality.'

'Before they go they all check I'm satisfied and that I've got everything I need.'

'If ever there has been a problem I've rung the office and they've rectified it straightaway.'

Everyone said they were treated with respect and the care workers provided a good standard of care. The care workers were described as 'friendly', 'caring', 'helpful', 'polite' and 'professional'.

Five people said they often had different care workers visiting them and would prefer to have more continuity. Most people who raised concerns about different care workers said this had happened recently and hadn't really been a problem before. One person said, 'We're not getting the same carers as often as we used to. It seems they've changed the way they do things but I preferred it when we had the same ones.' Another person said, 'It annoys me. They change the staff and don't tell you about it. They are all very good but when things are intimate you like to have the same ones.'

During our inspection we spoke with eight members of staff, who told us that people received appropriate and safe care. Staff we spoke with said the care plans and risk assessments were properly implemented and reviewed. One member of staff said, 'People get good care; it's well planned.' Another member of staff said, 'Things are generally well organised and they make sure people are cared for properly. We are asked about the people we visit and if we think things are ok.'

A social care professional told us if they had to choose a home care service Complete Care Agency would be at the top of their list. They said, 'The owner of this service is dedicated to delivering a quality service.'
