All Inspections

During a routine inspection

People were supported to access and begin their rehabilitation programme. People were assessed on admission so staff understood their addiction behaviour and what support they required.

People were supported by a group of staff and volunteers. Each person had an allocated counsellor and key worker to provide one to one support, as well as attendance at a group therapy programme and peer support arrangements. One person using the service told us, 'Everyone helps everyone else.'

The service had a range of skilled and experienced staff available to support people. This included a team of volunteers who were graduates of the programme.

The building provided a range of private and communal areas. Any maintenance requests raised were dealt with quickly through the home management team.

There were processes in place to review the quality of service provision and obtain the views of people using the service.

During a routine inspection

People told us at 1st Stage House that the day to day running of the service was lead by them and was overseen and managed by the staff. Some of the staff members were ex-residents. People told us that 'I'm really pleased with what they've done fore me', 'I think this place is amazing' and that the house was 'Awesome, really good, safe environment and I'm very comfortable'.

People also told that they were fully informed about the service before they moved in and knew what was expected from them. They're needs were fully assessed and reviewed frequently and support was given to meet all their needs. People told that they felt safe at 1st Stage House and that they got help from staff with any kind of problems when they needed it.

We found that people's care and treatment was planned and reviewed regularly. People were supported with all their needs and to access health services. The manager monitored people's progress in the programme and the service's performance through regular team meetings and discussions with all staff members. People's views were sought through various forums and were involved in the ongoing development of the programme.
