All inspections: Longwood Lodge - Care Quality Commission

When we visited Longwood Lodge in July 2011, we found that the appropriate recruitment checks for new staff were not undertaken as required by legislation. We issued the provider of the service with a compliance action.

The purpose of this visit was to check that appropriate and safe recruitment practices were followed.

We did not speak with people who used the service about this standard. However, we looked at a sample of four employment records for staff. We saw that the staff had been appropriately interviewed and vetted before commencing employment at the home.

The person who contacted us told us that management refuse to purchase cleaning materials, which has caused a decline in the quality of cleanliness in the property. They also told us that there was heavily worn carpeting on the stairs and that there have been recent cut backs in staffing numbers.

The purpose of this inspection visit was to check whether the service at Longwood Lodge recruited staff in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008. At our visit we focused on Outcome 12, 'Requirements relating to workers'.

At this inspection visit we did not speak with people who lived at Longwood Lodge.
