During a routine inspection

During this inspection we held telephone interviews with the relatives of two people who used the service. We also spoke with the area manager, the manager of the service and four care workers.

People that we spoke with said that they and their relatives were involved in agreeing and planning their care. People told us that the staff that supported them treated them with respect and dignity. One person said: 'Someone came out and assess and we agreed a plan of action. Mom doesn't fully understand what is happening, but they spoke to her and yes she was involved.'

We found that people's needs were assessed and planned for and that care was delivered in line with their agreed plan. We saw that the provider took account of people's diverse needs whilst delivering the care. People told us they were happy with the care they received and had no concerns whatsoever about the service.

People told us they felt safe using the service and with the staff that visit them. We found that people who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had systems in place to help to identify and prevent abuse from happening.

We found that people received a service from staff that were generally trained and supported to meet their needs. Staff we spoke with were confident in their role.

People told us that they were able to raise their concerns with the provider and felt they would be acted upon. One person said 'They asked at the review if I was happy with the service. They said to ring the office if I had any concerns.' People told us their care was reviewed and they were asked their views on the quality of the service they received. We found that the provider monitored the service delivered to ensure that it met the needs of the people supported.

During a routine inspection

People using the service were very happy with the care they received from Sevacare. They told us the carer's were excellent, very friendly and helpful. They said they had no complaints at all and were more than satisfied with the service. Comments included: ' I am very happy with my carers and feel very comfortable with them' 'Excellent carers, very professional' 'They deserve a big thank you for all they do for me'.

The management team reviewed each person's care documentation on a three monthly basis. They spoke to the person and their family to make sure the service provided was of a good standard, and was meeting the needs of the individual.

Comments from relatives included: ' Very, very happy with the service' ' They are very good at what they do for my dad, it gives me peace of mind'.

As part of this review we also spoke to other professionals such as social workers who used the services provided by Sevacare for their clients. They told us: ' I breathe a sigh of relief when I know its Sevacare caring for my client' 'They assess the needs of the client very well and provide an excellent service'.

People who used the service told us that they felt well supported by friendly, professional staff.

People who used the service told us they felt comfortable with talking to the manager or any member of staff if they felt things could be improved. They all said they were very satisfied with the service provided.
