During a routine inspection

We spoke with six people who used the service or their relatives. Each one praised the agency for the care and support it provided. One relative told us, 'I have never been so happy with the care he receives ' they are just about the best you can get'they don't rush him or get stressed in any way'. Another person told us, 'I never thought care could be so wonderful'. A third person said, 'they couldn't be better, and I really look forward to my 'angels' coming into me. They are reliable, always punctual'. People told us medication was dispensed efficiently and professionally with records being kept up-to-date and in great detail.

People told us they were asked their views specifically about the staff who supported them. One person said they were 'impressed' that if a new carer visited them, they soon received a questionnaire to complete asking for their views about the specific carer, their suitability, and performance levels.

We found people had care plans in place which had been created with them or their relatives and were up to date. Staff received relevant training before they assisted people with their medication. The provider ensured pre-employment checks were completed before new staff started work. People's views were sought and acted upon.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with people who used the service who told us that they were consulted about all aspects of their care and support.

We saw that care plans were reviewed regularly and in conjunction with people who used the service. People told us that the care they received was very good and the staff responded quickly to changes in their need for care and support.

The staff understood the importance of identifying people at risk from harm and were clear about the steps they should take if this became necessary. The staff had received training in safeguarding and were confident that the manager would take appropriate steps if required.

From the records we saw that staff received training in a wide range of topics. The people we spoke with said that the staff were well trained and this ensured that they were up to date and competent to provide excellent care.

The provider had a quality monitoring system in which monthly reviews of records were conducted in addition to spot checks and the manager's home visits. People told us they were frequently asked if the care and support provided was meeting their needs and they would have no hesitation in raising concerns should any arise.
