During a routine inspection

At the time of the inspection there were three people who used the service and we were able to meet and speak with them all whilst we were there. All the people who used the service told us they were very satisfied with the care and support at Lynshaw. All the interactions we observed between the staff and the people who used the service were open, respectful and courteous.

We saw that the manager provided what was required by the people who used the service in a way that demonstrated their knowledge of each individual's needs. We saw that there was a warm and friendly family atmosphere which was confirmed when we spoke with the people who used the service. We spoke with a relative who told us,'My sister couldn't be better cared for. Lynda goes the extra mile to look after them. I know my sister is well cared for. We meet each other every week at church.'

'I am really happy here, we are so well supported'.

We saw that people who used the service were spoken to and supported in a sensitive and respectful manner. The manager told us that people who used the service were involved in day to day decision-making wherever possible.

The manager told us that she involved the relatives of people living in the home. She told us that all the people who used the service were supported to have regular contact with their families.

We found that before people received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent and the provider had acted in accordance with their wishes. Where people did not have the capacity to consent, the provider acted in accordance with legal requirements.

We found that people were safeguarded against abuse.

We found that the staff member was trained and supported to deliver care and treatment safely.

We found that people's views were important and listened to. We found that there was an effective complaints system in place.
