During an inspection looking at part of the service

We were not able to speak to people who use the service at the time of this inspection because Remote Medical Services Limited (RMS) provided a service at organised events that took place in the main at weekends and through the summer months.

Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare.

People who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

People were cared for, or supported by, suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff.

There was an effective complaints system available.

During a routine inspection

We were not able to speak to people who use the service at the time of this inspection because Remote Medical Services Limited (RMS) provided a service at organised events that took place in the main at weekends and through the summer months.

People who use the service were given appropriate information about the services provided.

We found that patient treatment records lacked detail including important patient information when people were transferred to hospital for further care and treatment.

We found that staff had still not undertaken training in child protection and safe guarding adults.

We found that recruitment processes for staff had not improved and people who used the service were put at risk because pre-employment checks were not in place.

We found that the registered provider did not have a complaint's policy or complaints procedure in place despite being registered with the commission since 30 May 2011.

During a routine inspection

We were not able to speak to people who use the service at the time of this inspection because Remote Medical Services Limited (RMS) provided a service at organised events that took place in the main at weekends.

We saw feedback from two events organisers who contracted with RMS to provide an ambulance/medical cover at their events.

One organiser said, 'we have had some nice feedback already from runners, on your team's presence at the event'.

And

'I really like working with you guys and I want to continue working with you in the future'You provide us with good cover for a fair price'.

We found the service had good arrangements in place around obtaining consent from people before they were given treatment.

We found that ambulance vehicles were suitably maintained as was equipment provided for use at public events.

We found that recruitment processes for staff were not robust enough and staff had not undertaken training in safe guarding.
