During a routine inspection

Patients' dignity was respected. The dentist told us that when patients arrived, time was initially spent finding out the patient's dental care needs and expectations.

Patients we spoke with were positive about the quality of care and treatment received. One patient referred to the dentistry provided as 'very good indeed' whilst another patient told us that they were 'very happy' with the dental care provided.

The provider had a safeguarding policy for children and vulnerable adults containing contact details for the local authority safeguarding team.

We saw that the reception area and treatment rooms were clean and clutter free. None of the patients we spoke with expressed concerns about cleanliness or the overall environment. One patient referred to the practice as 'nice and clean.'

The provider had accurate records to help identify and manage risks in relation to providing dental care. For example, we saw evidence that medical histories were updated at each visit, as necessary. Paper records indicated where a patient's medical condition might impact on their dental treatment.

During a routine inspection

Patients told us that the dental services they had received were of a high quality. They told us that their privacy and dignity had been respected by the dentist and staff team. One patient said "I am more than happy with the treatment I receive from the dentist; I am a very satisfied patient". Another patient told us 'The dentist and nurses are so friendly and professional; they know how to put me at ease.'

We saw that assessments and treatment plans had been prepared for patients. Treatment had been given with patients' agreement and written consent. Medical histories were reviewed regularly by the dentist. Patients told us that all costs were made clear to them before treatment commenced. One patient said "Im always clear about what is going to happen and I have never had any problems" and "Everything is explained in a way I can understand so I can make the right decision for me".

We saw there were arrangements in place for the management of infection control and there were appropriate checks in place to ensure standards were adhered to. Staff were knowledgeable about infection control and decontamination procedures for equipment and instruments used. Patients told us they were happy with the cleanliness of the practice.
