During a routine inspection

People that we spoke with at the practice were happy overall with the care and treatment they received at the practice. However, one person commented about the length of time it was taking to resolve their particular problem and had raised these concerns with staff. Another person was pleased that their dentist had been able to suggest an alternative treatment for them, as previous treatments had not been successful. People told us that their treatment was well explained. We viewed patient records which demonstrated that people's opinions were sought and explanations given.

People were treated in a clean and hygienic environment that met with the requirements of the Health Technical Memorandum 01-05 (HTM). This is the guidance that dentists must follow in order to ensure that their practice minimises the risk of cross infection.

Staff were aware of their responsibilities to safeguard children and vulnerable adults and had received training in this area. Staff also received training in first aid so that people were protected in the event of an emergency. Emergency medication and equipment was available should it be required.

There were systems in place to monitor the quality of the service provided. This included a programme of audits and ways for people to provide feedback if they wished to do so.
