All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We looked at people's care files, spoke with people using the service and their relatives. One person told us 'the staff are really good. Most of them have been working there for a long time and really know X." Another relative told us, 'On the whole I am really pleased with the way X is looked after.' We found that care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare.

People who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

We found that there was an effective recruitment process in place and appropriate checks were carried out before staff began to work with people using the service. People were cared for by staff who were supported by the provider to deliver safe and effective care.

We reviewed several care files and records relating to people who use the service, staff and management of the service. We found that people were protected from the risks of unsafe or inappropriate care and treatment because accurate and appropriate records were maintained.

During a routine inspection

When we visited the registered manager Cora Conway was on leave. The acting manager facilitated this inspection. David McCarthy was no longer the registered manager at Grosvenor House.

We were informed by the acting manager that people using the service liked to be called "residents" and we have used this term throughout this report.

We looked at the quality assurance report that the agency had compiled following a survey that they undertook to seek the views of the residents. It was positively noted that they were happy and satisfied with the care and support they were being provided.

Residents were given appropriate information and support regarding their care and support. Their care records showed that their needs had been assessed by staff and care plans drawn up
