During a routine inspection
We looked at two patient records in detail and saw that a medical history had been taken and there was an assessment and treatment plan in place, which had been developed after discussion with patients. Costs were clear.
All recommended emergency medicines were in place and we saw records which showed that staff had undertaken training in emergency medical procedures.
Whilst a good standard of cleanliness and infection control was apparent in all the treatment rooms, we were concerned to note that, in another area, two single use instruments were being stored for re-use. Although this appeared to be historic it had not been picked up. These instruments were immediately disposed of upon discovery. In addition, recent infection control training was not effective as decontamination procedures were not always followed in a way which protected staff from infection.
