All Inspections

8 February 2013

During a routine inspection

On the day of the inspection we viewed five support plans and saw that they were person centred and contained detailed risk assessments that covered all aspects of people's life.

The service sought peoples consent before care started and there was evidence to support this by way of signatures from people and their family members.

We spoke to three family members and one family member told us that they remember signing documentation agreeing to care and that they were present in the discussions in preparing the care package.

We found that there were sufficient staff to support people's needs and that the service planned in advance staff rotas and were able to get staff to people to provide care and support in times of absence.

The service had a complaints policy but we did not see any complaints for 2012. The one complaint we did see from 2013 had been acknowledged and was being investigated as per the policy.

During a routine inspection

We visited four people living within their own homes; relatives were present at three of the households. We received positive remarks from all of the people that we spoke to. One person told us 'The girls who come in now we have no problem with at all. They come reasonably within the time and they know what they have to do. The service is pleasing'. Another person said 'I am happy with the care; it is polite and respectful. She makes me tea in the morning and gives me so much help'. People told us that they knew how to make a complaint if necessary and had confidence that any issues could be sorted out.
