During a routine inspection

People's views were taken into account in the way the service was provided. A small number of people used the service. We were unable to speak to them or their relatives. Records showed that people received support visits at the times they specified.

Files demonstrated that people's needs had been assessed by the service. Their support had been planned and delivered in a way that ensured their welfare and safety. The provider had taken reasonable steps to prevent abuse. We spoke staff who had received adult safeguarding training. They understood how to recognise and report any concerns about abuse or neglect. The provider had used surveys and reviews of people's support to obtain information about the quality of the service.

During a routine inspection

At the time of our inspection only one person was using the service. We were not able to talk with them but we spoke with their relative. Relatives told us that staff treated people with respect. They said "they (staff) talk to him, they ask him what he wants to do." They told us that staff were punctual and always stayed for the full amount of time allotted. We found that care plans and risk assessments were in place for people and that staff had a good understanding of people's individual care needs.

Relatives told us the service provided safe care, saying "I can leave my husband and not worry because I know he will be safe." We found that staff had undertaken training in safeguarding vulnerable adults, and the service had a safeguarding vulnerable adults procedure in place. We found that checks were undertaken on staff before they commenced working at the service including employment references and Criminal Records Bureau Checks. We found that the service had systems in place for monitoring the quality of care provided.
