During a routine inspection

The dental practice is open Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8.30am to12.30pm, and 2pm until 5.30pm, 6pm or 7.30pm. From when the surgery closes in the evenings and up to 9pm these is a telephone answering service giving an emergency out-of hour's number. The two dentists who work at the practice take it in turns to be on call for dental emergencies.

During the visit, we did not have the opportunity to speak with people who used the service. However, we did see a 'Comment on your experience' book located on the desk in reception. Comments written in the book included:

'Lovely dentist and staff; couldn't ask for better!' 'Always a very pleasant place to come to. Nice staff and nice dentist.'

The practice had a complaints procedure displayed in the waiting room. They had not received any complaints or concerns in the last 12 months.

Appropriate arrangements were in place for the recording of medicine. However not all drugs specified by the Resuscitation Council UK were obtained and accessible for use should they be needed in an emergency situation. A compliance action has been made.
