All Inspections

28 February and 4 March 2013

During a routine inspection

People who used the service were treated with respect and dignity. They were encouraged to make choices about their care. We observed staff encouraging people to express their views and listening to what they had to say.

People had care plans which ensured that staff had information about their personal care needs and knew how to support them. People told us they received the help they needed but were also encouraged to do things for themselves which promoted their independence. For example, one person told us, "Yes, they help me." Another person said, "Of course they do...but I do a lot for myself."

The provider had procedures in place to protect people from the risk of abuse. Training arrangements were in place and staff knew what to do if they had concerns about people's welfare. Checks were carried out on staff before they started working with people to ensure they were suitable for the job.

There were systems in place to monitor the quality of the service and obtain people's views about the care they received. This helped ensure that improvements were centred on the people who used the service.

As a result of this inspection we have made one compliance action. Systems were not in place to analyse accidents and incidents and ensure a robust response to potential risks at all times.
